Avant Garde Typography Movie Poster

A movie poster design for a fictional documentary about the typeface Avant Garde, this was created as part of college coursework. Every regular a-z glyph and numbers 1–10 are included in the design.

My focus was on the many ligatures and glyph variations this typeface is famous for, elongating the ligatures, ascenders and descenders to create the effect. The color palette was chosen as it mimics early use of the typeface as the title type for Avant Garde magazine.
